ALPHABETA and NSE Academy partnership profiled in the Hindu Business Line

Mumbai: ALPHABETA Inc, a New York-based new-age interactive education start-up providing courses on equity markets and commodities, is planning to tie up with leading business schools and financial institutions in India for financial courses. The company has recently partnered with the NSE Academy Ltd (NAL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Stock Exchange, for the same. NAL, that currently offers certificate programmes in extensive finance subjects in collaboration with select educational and financial institutions, will soon provide a certificate course in equity portfolio management through online, using data visualisation and exploratory learning.
ALPHABETA’s plan is to introduce more such courses related to equity and stock market.
ALPHABETA provides an inclusive pedagogical approach using active learning space which makes the complex concepts of finance intuitively simpler, said its President and Founder Kirthi Ramakrishnan.
“Not many people invest in the stock market because they find it complex.
“Our platform makes many of these courses look very simple with a lot of visual data and a very practical approach instead of going the theoretical way,” he said, adding anyone can become financially literate by studying this course.
The online courses are available through a mobile app for anyone from high school students to investment managers, traders and wealth managers.
Ramakrishnan further added that in countries such as India and Mexico only 2 per cent of the population has exposure to the stock market. “Our aim is to take this 2 per cent to 10 per cent in the next 8-10 years,” Ramakrishnan said, adding that the company is already talking to about six premier business schools for the financial courses. “The partnership with NAL is a major validation that data visualisation and exploratory learning in a mobile-first, data-intensive, next-generation app environment is very important.
“We believe that we are at the forefront of a generational shift in the teaching of finance aligned with the irreversible trends of democratisation of investing opportunities and investing knowledge.”
